Top-10 MARS results for Justin Duty in Iowa and Illinois
In three days of MARS Late Model Championship racing from Friday through Sunday, Justin Duty grabbed a pair of top-10 results at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway and Quincy (Illinois) Raceways.
The MARS weekend slate began at Davenport with the Corn State Nationals, a program that brought 32 MARS Late Models to the quarter-mile track each night.
On Friday, Duty got off to an inauspicious start in his Double Duty Motorsports No. 15 Super Late Model. He failed to finish both his heat race and B-Main, and started 21st in the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win feature. He picked up one spot and recorded a 20th-place result, but with another DNF.
Duty’s fortunes changed on Saturday in the Corn State Nationals finale. He was runner-up in his heat and both started and finished eighth in the 40-lap, $10,000-to-win main event.
The next night, the series contested the Gem City Showdown at the quarter-mile Quincy Raceways, where Duty was part of a 19-car MARS field. Early in the evening, he took fourth place in his heat race. He then started eighth in the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win feature and climbed one spot to come home seventh.
After the mid-September swing, Duty remains fifth in the MARS Late Model Championship standings.
