Justin Duty finishes 4th at Marshalltown, continues season with MARS in Illinois
Double Duty Motorsports driver Justin Duty raced three times in five nights from Tuesday through Saturday. To start the slate, he turned in a top-five finish in a stout Super Late Model field at Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway as part of FloRacing Night in America.
With a $20,000 first-place payout on the line at Marshalltown on Tuesday, Duty was among 31 Super Late Model competitors in the pits at the quarter-mile clay oval. He drove his Don Frank Floors No. 15 machine to a fourth-place finish in his heat race and rolled off from the 14th starting spot in the main event. He charged forward 10 positions in the 50-lap feature to come home fourth behind Hudson O’Neal, Brandon Overton and Bobby Pierce. Jonathan Davenport took fifth.
Over the weekend, Duty joined the Midwest Auto Racing Series (MARS) Late Model Championship for a pair of $5,000-to-win shows in Illinois. On Friday, he was part of a 25-car field at Quincy Raceways, and he was one of 36 MARS Late Model competitors at Highland Speedway on Saturday.
Friday saw Duty finish second in his heat at the quarter-mile Quincy Raceways in the Land of Lincoln, putting him fifth to begin the 40-lap main event. He finished 11th.
The next night, Duty just missed a transfer spot in his heat race at Highland Speedway. However, he won his B-Main on the quarter-mile oval to earn a starting position in the feature. He rolled off from 17th on the grid and registered a 12th-place result in the 40-lapper.
Duty currently occupies the seventh position in MARS Late Model Championship points.
